ENSUITE BATHROOM
Tucked away off a quiet lane in Mont Albert our clients home interior reflects a couple who love to travel. The home is tastefully appointed with items collected on their travels. Most of the home has been renovated except for the bathroom which are tired, uninteresting and did not fit the personalities of its owners.

Client Brief
Address poor storage provided by the existing vanities.
The shower recesses in each room are too small, the moulded shower bases and chunky framed shower screens are dated looking and difficult to clean, a level entry shower is preferred.
After working a long day the bathrooms must be both interesting but feel like a luxurious space.

Design Statement
The ensuite packed in a lot in a small space. By removing the bathroom door and changing it to a slider Mark was able to design a floor plan that did not make the room feel cluttered.
The corner shower recess was transformed into a large level entry shower recess with a long niche to store shampoo bottles off the floor. Enclosing the shower with a frameless sliding shower screen ensured the screen door kept the floor space open. Whilst increasing the shower recess size it still afforded a new toilet to be tucked away beside the shower and not to be visible from the bathroom entry.

Selecting Oxidart Rust tiles by Sant’ Agostino provided not only texture but a focal point in the room. Oxidart’s complimentary feature tiles were laid to the vanity wall enabling Mark to select a deeper tone from the tile and paint match it to the vanity. A generous sized wall mounted vanity was custom coloured to suit the rust tones of the bathroom, plus solving the storage issues.
When working with darker wall and floor tiles lighting is very important. A custom made mirrored was made to look like the mirror was floating off the wall. Backlighting the mirror shows off the interesting detail in the tiles. Marks clients finished the room beautifully with a pendant light in the rustic tones.

MAIN BATHROOM
Client Brief
Whilst the built in bath takes up too much floor space, the new design must incorporate a bath.
Vanity storage is to be addressed.
A level entry shower is preferred.
Bathroom must compliment the ensuite.

Design Statement
Replacing the chunk built-in bath with a back to wall freestanding bath with curved front and ends allowed space to hang a wall mounted vanity.
Wall mounted vanities open the floor space giving the illusion of a larger room.
The level entry shower recess remained the same size enabling the toilet to fit beside the shower.
Positioning the vanity, mirror and pendant light on the wall opposite the door created a focal point.
The choice of metallic subways on the window wall were designed to complement the Iron coloured Oxidart wall and floor tiles. The shimmer of the metallic tiles gently bounces light off the wall creating layers of texture to the room.
