After living abroad in Hong Kong for 20 years, our clients were ready to return home to Australia with their two sons. Before moving back, their heritage-listed Victorian terrace in Parkville required a complete home renovation.

Having been a rental property for two decades, the home needed extensive work across all areas — three bathrooms, kitchen, family and lounge rooms featuring marble fireplaces, as well as new heating, windows, timber flooring, painting, lighting, and an outdoor courtyard landscaping.

Simply Bathroom Solutions’ design and construction team undertook a full-scale home renovation to transform the property into a modern, family-friendly residence while respecting its heritage character. The boys’ bedrooms were redesigned with built-in desks and generous storage, while the master bedroom received beautifully appointed custom wardrobes. Each of the three bathrooms was reimagined to align with the clients’ lifestyle and design preferences.

Energy efficiency played a key role in the renovation. Double-glazed windows, new 19 mm solid timber flooring, and underfloor insulation significantly improved the home’s warmth and comfort, reducing reliance on the new heating system.

Downstairs, the once dark and dated spaces were opened up to flood the home with natural light. A new kitchen featuring soft green subway tiles now flows seamlessly into the dining and family living areas. Expansive bifold doors open onto a wrap-around deck framed by lush built-in garden beds, creating a true indoor-outdoor connection ideal for entertaining.
