Parkville Morah Kitchen

After many years living abroad in Hong Kong, our clients were ready to return home to Australia and breathe new life into their Melbourne residence. Having rented the property during their time away, the home needed a full refresh — starting with a kitchen renovation that would suit their busy family lifestyle.

Both clients are passionate cooks, and with two boys who also spend plenty of time in the kitchen, functionality was key. Space was limited, so a carefully considered floor plan was essential to ensure seamless flow and practicality. The clients wanted a light, bright colour palette, accented with colourful subway tiles to connect the modern kitchen with the rest of the open-plan living space. As the kitchen redesign formed part of a larger home renovation, it was important that the kitchen, dining, family room, and outdoor entertaining deck worked harmoniously together.

The rear of this two-storey Victorian terrace, extended in the late 1990s, was due for a complete re-imagining. Simply Bathroom Solutions’ design team focused on improving spatial planning and introducing clever storage solutions to maximise every centimetre of the compact kitchen.

Outdated rear windows were replaced with new bi-fold doors, opening the living space directly onto a generous entertainer’s deck and BBQ area — perfect for family gatherings and alfresco dining. The transformation also included the installation of new solid timber flooring throughout, a new kitchen, and custom joinery for the clients’ extensive book collection.

A built-in fireplace adds warmth and character to the living area, while energy-efficient upgrades such as underfloor insulation, double glazing, and a new electric heating and cooling system ensure the home is as comfortable as it is beautiful.
