Kew Glenferrie

This beautifully restored Victorian home in Melbourne’s inner east suburb of Kew exudes quality and timeless style from the moment you step through the front door. Every room has been thoughtfully curated, reflecting the owners’ passion for design and detail.

Our clients sought to transform their dated ensuite into a refined and luxurious space with clean architectural lines and practical functionality. The existing built-in bath was to be removed to increase the overall footprint, making way for a spacious walk-in shower complete with a bench seat. Ample vanity and mirrored cabinet storage were essential, as was an improved lighting plan that balanced both task and mood illumination for daily use and relaxation.

Simply Bathroom Solutions was also engaged to construct a main bathroom that would not only serve as a functional family space but also complement the home’s heritage character. The brief called for a spacious main bathroom that could also welcome guests — elegant, functional, and in harmony with the home’s interior palette.

Ensuite

As designer Mies van der Rohe famously said, “the devil is in the detail” — a sentiment that perfectly captures this ensuite renovation. Every element was carefully considered to achieve a sense of balance and quiet sophistication. The transition between the bedroom and the ensuite was refined with a plastered doorway reveal, creating depth and elegance at the entry.

Lowering the ceiling and increasing the height of the bathroom door produced a seamless junction between spaces. The ceiling height was meticulously calculated to align perfectly with the full height of the wall tiles, ensuring no cut edges at the skirting — a subtle but powerful design move.

A continuous sightline runs through the space, with the base of the shower seat aligning with the vanity’s lower edge to create visual harmony. This ensuite exemplifies how thoughtful detailing, collaboration, and craftsmanship between client, designer, and builder can result in a serene and beautifully balanced bathroom retreat.

Main Bathroom

Transforming the former lounge into a generous main bathroom, Simply Bathroom Solutions constructed a full-length nib wall along the eastern side to accommodate a sleek wall-mounted vanity and recessed mirrored cabinet, achieving a seamless flush finish. The vanity’s slim Corian benchtop and minimalist profile enhance the calm, refined aesthetic of the space.

A sculptural freestanding bath was positioned beneath the window and skylight, forming the room’s focal point. Soft wall sconces introduce ambient lighting, balancing functionality with atmosphere. The walk-in shower recess was proportioned to complement the room’s layout, maintaining visual harmony while meeting the family’s practical needs.

Layered finishes, subtle textures, and a soothing tonal palette create a serene, spa-like experience — a hallmark of Simply Bathroom Solutions’ approach to thoughtful and timeless Melbourne bathroom renovations.
