Camberwell Tara Estate

Nestled within Camberwell’s revered Tara Estate, this stately Victorian beauty of the 1880s continues to grace the streetscape with her original charm. To honour her enduring grandeur, the new envisioned bathroom was not merely to be a functional space, but as an elegant extension of the old lady’s timeless poise.

Earlier renovations had introduced contemporary elements that disrupted the room’s grace—false ceiling heights and an oversized spa bath that diminished its character. Our clients envisioned a restoration that would return the space to its former splendour.

The false ceiling was removed to reinstate the impressive 3.6-metre height, finished with elegant Victorian cornices that honour the home’s period character. At the heart of this bathroom renovation lies a breathtaking curved bay window adorned with original stained glass. Positioned before it, a freestanding bath becomes the hero of the room, softly illuminated by uplighting that highlights the window’s intricate detail.

Completing the transformation, a generous walk-in shower and custom wall-mounted vanity bring functionality and balance to the space. The result is a sophisticated, spa-like retreat that beautifully unites heritage charm with modern craftsmanship — a true reflection of a thoughtful Simply Bathroom Solutions design.
