PROJECT OUTLINE
Our clients purchased their two-story town house in 2014 only to find the shower in both bathrooms were leaking. Whilst this is always a frustrating discovery, Jocelyn and Michael turned it into a positive and used this as an opportunity to put their own stamp of style on the home.

CLIENT BRIEF
Both the ensuite and main bathroom were to be renovated at the same time. A unisex tile and vanity colour scheme for both bathrooms needed to be considered.  The brief for the ensuite was to,

  • Create a relaxing space for parents to unwind.
  • Address the poor layout in the ensuite.
  • Include a generous walk-in shower with storage for shampoo bottles.
  • Achieve maximum storage in the vanity and mirror area.
  • Address the rooms poor lighting.

DESIGN STATEMENT
Changing the layout of the ensuite to include a generous walk-in shower, a freestanding bath, toilet and vanity with generous storage needed careful planning and consideration.

Reorientating floor plan saw the bath positioned under the window with the walk-in shower situated at the end of the shower. Keeping all wet areas along the external wall not only worked well for the homes plumbing but enabled us to create a nib wall for clients to store shampoo bottles as well as acting as a focal point.

The bathroom floor tiles were laid across the floor and wrapped up the nib wall.

Striking Ocean blue subway tiles were laid vertically above the nib wall creating a visual impact from the bathroom door. Correcting the lighting plan also included installing gimble lights in the ceiling to create a soft glow that spread across the blue subway tiles in the evening. Creating a sanctuary to soak in at the end of a busy day is carefully thought out.

From the texture of the timber vanity, colour of the tapware and floor and wall tiles and the way the light bounces off the gloss blue wall tiles. Enhance this with soft lighting and you cant help but let your worries dissolve.
